Rep. Nathaniel Ledbetter

House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter has served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives since 2014, representing Dekalb county. In March 2017, he became the Majority leader in the house and the first freshman member to serve in that post in modern times. Representative Ledbetter is a former mayor and city council member of Rainsville. Rep. Ledbetter is vice chair of the House Internal Affairs Committee and holds seats on the agenda-setting Rules Committee, the Ways and Means Education Committee, and the Commerce and Small Business Committee. He also serves as an ex-officio member of the powerful and influential Legislative Council, which is comprised of leaders from the House and Senate and directs most operations of the Alabama Legislature. In 2021, Representative Ledbetter was elected Chair of the Southern Legislative Conference’s Economic Development, Transportation and Cultural Affairs Committee at its annual meeting.
